An online magazine for pastors and church leaders.

One of my favorite resources as a worship leader is a site called PraiseCharts. It shows you how churches are using CCLI licensed songs, letting you know which songs are most popular.

The problem is, however, that you end up seeing songs like “I’ll Fly Away” next to the latest Hillsong earwig. The site takes into account all churches, old and new school, so it isn’t necessarily helpful in showing me what more modern churches are using during their worship services.

I got the idea to do some Twitter research and compile a statistical analysis of a random sample of tweets to show what modern churches (at least churches who use Twitter) are doing on Sunday mornings. Here’s the 12 most popular songs I saw from the 50 random tweets I analyzed. (Clicking the link will take you to an iTunes download of the song.)

Also note, I’m listing a recording artist for each entry…not necessarily the author of the song.
